Uniper has awarded BCECA member Technip Energies a Front-End Engineering Design contract for their proposed Combined Cycle Gas Turbine power station with Carbon Capture and Storage at Connah’s Quay in North Wales. The power station is expected to be developed in two phases, providing around 1.3GW of low carbon power in total, ensuring continued reliable contribution to security of supply whilst supporting the UK’s decarbonisation targets.
Technip, supported by Balfour Beatty and GE Vernova, will provide FEED services for the integration of the CCGT with carbon capture. In the first phase, Technip will deploy its ‘Canopy’ CCS solution, which utilises Shell’s ‘CANSOLV’ technology.
