Our Strategy

'The Collective Voice for Engineering Contractors', BCECA's three-year strategy, covering the period 2026 - 2028, was developed by the Association's governing Council during 2025 and signed off in February 2026.

Delivering engineering transformation

Industry is increasingly aware of the value of collaborative forums as business enablers. BCECA provides a platform for its members to share insights and intelligence that improve the offer and competitiveness of the UK contracting industry and the continued prosperity and progress of those who depend on it.

Our member companies operate in a multidisciplinary, multinational environment where collaboration with and leadership of diverse global teams is essential. BCECA continues to lead, shape and drive discussion to pursue a sustainable future for the engineering contracting sector in the UK.

BCECA delivers value and opportunity for the collective benefit of engineering contracting and consulting companies and their suppliers

We achieve this through our regularly reviewed work programmes under four headings:

1. Maintain powerful networks

By holding external events, spread throughout the strategy period, drawing on knowledge and experience from across the Association Council, its committees and working groups, to better connect BCECA members with industry

In the next period, we will:

Further develop our annual conference series, regular networking events, roundtables and forums.

Streamline our committees and launch an online member community.

Facilitate productive conversations with key sector stakeholders in business, academia and politics.

Maintain our regular surveys, intelligence gathering and knowledge sharing.

2. Use our collective voice

By issuing regular external communications from multiple sources across the Association, promoting and sharing the views of BCECA

In the next period, we will:

Identify priority topics on which thought leadership is essential.

Engage with decision-makers, opinion-formers and allies.

3. Maintain our focus on skills

By working with relevant skills agencies and professional bodies to support the talent pipeline

In the next period, we will:

Further develop our productive partnerships with training bodies, HEIs, PEIs and government agencies.

Promote engineering careers and development opportunities.

Deliver more BCECA Industry Days to signpost the diversity of opportunities within our member companies.

4. Promote best practice in all aspects of our members' work

By sharing knowledge and learning internally and externally, and increasing BCECA representation on other bodies and forums

In the next period, we will:

Publish regular news updates and report-backs from our expert groups, highlight best practice and case studies, etc.

Recognise excellence via involvement in annual awards.

BCECA will evolve, change, and grow to become a niche, internationally recognised trade association representing the UK operations of the world's leading engineering contractors, consultancies, and their suppliers. This strategy sets the direction for the Association's Diamond Jubilee celebration in 2026 and beyond.
