Tracey makes the list again
For the second year in succession, BCECA’s CEO, Tracey Shelley, has been included in the Women in Trade Associations Powerlist, which champions the role of women in Trade Associations. The Powerlist is a joint initiative promoted by the Trade Association Forum (TAF), the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) and the CBI (Confederation of British Industry), and it was published on International Women’s Day on 8th March. Tracey joined several other nominees at a TAF reception in London, to celebrate the accomplishments of women making a difference in trade associations.
ECITB strategic update
More than fifty representatives from across all BCECA member companies and committees welcomed Martyn Johnson, Head of Strategic Engagement for Wales and Southern England with ECITB to an online meeting on 9th May to learn more about the ECITB's strategy and current activities and the alignment with BCECA. Members shared current issues they are experiencing and discussed future requirements and opportunities for ECITB to engage further with the offsite community. We look forward to further discussions with Martyn in the future.
Women's network launched
BCECA held an excellent Equality, Diversity and Inclusion meeting on 23 April at its offices, with participants from almost all BCECA member companies. As a result of the discussions, we have agreed to create a new BCECA Women's Network to bring together women from within BCECA member companies and non-member organisations to network, share experiences and learnings and create mentor/mentee relationships. Please keep an eye out for further information.
IR 35 Webinar
On 8th May, BCECA hosted a very successful online meeting with guest speakers Matt Fryer and Marcus Kenny of Brookson Group, looking at the implications for BCECA members of the recent IR35 legislation changes. Over 40 representatives from member companies participated in the meeting, which was very informative and enabled specific scenarios and issues to be discussed. Our grateful thanks to Matt and Marcus for their time, knowledge and offer of further support.
POWERful Women
On 22 May, our CEO Tracey Shelley attended the launch of annual statistics on female representation at the top of the UK energy sector. The figures, in PfW’s Annual State of the Nation report on diversity at the UK’s leading energy businesses, suggest that the industry continues to find it challenging to advance gender representation in leadership and key decision-making roles.
